Clayton’s first blog post

Hello readers! The year is 2022, and I am starting a blog. Very innovative, I know – but with the current state of Twitter and Facebook, this seemed like a friendlier alternative to communicate with my audience.

Brief introduction

I’m C. W. Clayton, and I’m a fantasy and science fiction writer based in the north of England. You might have found your way to this blog having read one of my books, and if so – welcome! If you’d like a more long-winded introduction, then visit my author bio. I have more space there than I do on my Amazon Author page, and more flexibility than on Facebook.

What is a blog?

Now, there is a chance that some of you out there (like me) don’t know where the term “blog” originated, because the word has been in common usage as far as I can remember. Apparently, it is a truncation of the term “web log”, which was coined before I was born, and refers to any website with regular diary-style updates. I have decided it is high time for me to have more of an internet presence – and so here I am. Blogging.

What is the point of this blog?

Shameless self promotion, obviously. However, I’m aiming for a more symbiotic relationship with my audience, where they receive something more than sporadic, half-arsed attempts at advertising. My plan is to provide weekly posts as well as book updates, although I haven’t yet decided on the topic of those posts. There is a good chance it will be something new each week.
