New book out now: Sylvre

Hello readers! I have just published a new book on Amazon. This is Sylvre, the second instalment in the Highmoor series. To celebrate the launch, all my other books are free for this weekend (10th and 11th June). If you haven’t picked up the first book, Highmoor, now’s your chance!

Amazon description

Far from Highmoor, the cogs of great schemes are starting to turn. The calamitous events that shook the small, upland nation have caught the attention of strategists in the eastern empire, and powerful players want to draw Eddie, Norbert, Joseph and Nia into their game. Tensions are building between the human and elvish territories, and the sudden reappearance of the heir to the Sylvre throne means that an ancient kingdom might finally be reclaimed.

The wizards of Highmoor have no choice but to be swept along by the tide. They are steered by forces beyond their control – manipulated by nations far more powerful than themselves. Our tale travels east across the mountains, far beyond the windswept moors and ancient forests. While the mightiest nations may be absorbed by plotting and conflict, deeper powers are stirring – going unnoticed by all but a few. The Sylvre Kingdom is just a tipping point, and the world is on the cusp of changing forever.

A more personal note

I’ve been working on Sylvre for a few years now, and I hope those of you who enjoyed Highmoor are looking forward to being reunited with some familiar characters. The second book will travel much further, and the dilemmas will be much larger – as you might expect from a sequel. Sylvre is the second entry in a series which will eventually contain four novels. Larger story arcs are taking shape, and deeper histories are being unearthed, all leading towards that classic “all hell breaks loose” final instalment.

I am also working on a map of the world, which I will put on this site in due course. I appreciate that throwing around placenames and distances can get confusing without a visual aid! There will be an announcement when the map is launched, and I suspect this will be in several stages, at different scales, of various places.

How to show support

The best way to show support is by buying my books on Amazon and leaving a star rating once you have finished them. Reading my books through Kindle Unlimited is also great, if you have that option. And if you have time, you can write a brief review – although I appreciate that this won’t be for everyone. Just remember the stars!

Anyone with an Amazon account can follow my author page, whether you have read my books, intend to read them, or hate reading books but enjoy the blog. The number of followers is yet another metric that traditional publishers use to ascertain an author’s merit, so every follower helps me out, and I really appreciate it.

Finally, you can subscribe to this blog if you haven’t already. To my understanding, you get emails whenever I post something (usually every Sunday). However, if subscribing doesn’t float your boat, then coming back every week to read the blog is still greatly appreciated.

To every reader out there, thank you! I hope you enjoy the new book.
