Book promotion: 6th-8th May

Hello readers! This weekend, from Saturday 6th to the end of Monday 8th May, all four of my books are going to be FREE on Amazon. To find all my books quickly, just visit my Amazon author page at www.amazon.co.uk/C-W-Clayton/e/B09YZXSQ3D.

What is an Amazon Author page?

Amazon Author pages are strange places. They are neither a website, a blog, a shop, nor a news feed, and yet they borrow aspects from all of these. To me, the most useful function of the author page is to see all the books by a particular writer. However, Amazon currently provides no way for me to customise my page, or to link it with existing blogs, websites or social media, and so it always feels a bit limited.

There is one other feature offered by Amazon, and that is the follow button. By following an author, you get email updates from Amazon whenever they release a new book. You also get emails when the author updates their “recommended” list, which is about the only way for an author to interact with their audience via Amazon.

If you want to show your support for my work, the follow button on the Amazon Author page is a really good place to start. It is a very useful statistic for showing the enthusiasm of your readers, which comes in handy for authors trying to make the leap into traditional publishing. All you need to be a follower is an Amazon account.

Other ways of showing support

The best way of showing support for any self-publishing author on Amazon is to buy their books (or read them through Kindle Unlimited) and then recommend them to friends. Leaving a star rating helps a lot. Leaving a written review helps even more – and it doesn’t have to be an essay. Just four or five words would do. Preferably in the form of a short sentence.

Progress update

I may have mentioned this briefly in earlier posts, but the second book in the Highmoor series is currently in the last round of edits. I anticipate that this should be finished at some point over the summer, but I won’t set a deadline for fear of missing it. There are a few other, smaller works in progress associated with this book series; namely, a map of the world. This is taking longer than anticipated, but I would very much like to publish it to this site one day, to help all you lovely readers get a better idea of where things are. Besides, everyone loves a good map, don’t they?

With that, I’ll leave you to enjoy the free book promotion – and for people in the UK, enjoy the bank holiday weekend!
